"I've always been a non-violent person," Tim Jones told me last week as we chatted in a subterranean nightclub in Manhattan. He's a "peace and love" kind of guy and designer of a new video game featuring spine-dangling decapitations.

I'd actually argue that violent video games makes people less violent because:

1) It satiates the human need for violence.

2) Shows us the reality of ripping out a mans spine and the expression/sound the marine makes.

3) All this pushes one away from doing these things due to being so disgusting.

Nice read.

I grew up playing Doom and Diablo and the like, which for their day they were some of the most violent games, when I was only 5 or so. If anything I am very passive and still get revolted by actual gore in the news or messed up sites like 4Chan. Interesting counter to the overused 'video games incite hatred' chant.
